For year-round snow-oriented sport, head for the forested mountains around Whistler, sure to have a slope or two open even in summer with plenty of hiking and biking at lower altitudes.
BYU occupies a pretty, well-maintained campus on a rise in the northeast corner of town. You can stroll the attractive grounds or take a guided 45-minute tour. Tours depart from the visitor center at 11 and 2, Mon. - Fri. You can also schedule a tour at another time by calling 801-378-4678.
The Wilkinson Student Center has places to eat, a large bookstore, a theater, an art gallery and lounge areas. In addition to snack bars and a cafeteria, the Skyroom Restaurant, serves good quality lunches M-F and dinner on Friday. It is located on the 6th floor with nice views of the city. Outdoors Unlimited, on the lower level, rents all sorts of equipment for outdoor recreation.
The BYU Earth Science Museum has good exhibits of dinosaurs and early mammals. You can watch an entertaining dinosaur video or observe researches prepare bones for display.
