Kelowna Travel Information

Bright blossoming orchards and carefully tended vineyards provide a cultivated setting for the city of Kelowna, the largest urban area in British Columbia’s southern interior. Located on the east side of Okanagan Lake north of Penticton, you’ll find plenty of provincial parks in the vicinity in addition to tourist amenities.

When long sunny days sparkle the surrounding waters, the popularity of lake-based activity becomes apparent. From sailing to sea doos, from water skiers to parasailing, Okanagan Lake runs the gamut. Rent a speedboat if you haven’t hauled your own along, and do some cruising along this long lake. Even if you’re just after some relaxing naptime shore side or a boardwalk stroll, Kelowna has the bases covered.

Check out local art galleries or get the lowdown on the history of area orchards, stopping at the Wine Museum to plan your afternoon tasting foray. Try something unusual and book a cycling tour around to Kelowna’s wineries or take a hike and enjoy a guided afternoon on foot.

If you’re after some solitude and a bit of angling, head to one of the numerous lakes dotting the region or a provincial park. With plenty of hiking and biking trails to be taken, the fisherman with family will be pleased to know he can enjoy some casting time without leaving the rest of the group high and dry.

Kelowna is 132 miles from Kamloops and 41 miles north of Penticton. Osoyoos, just north of the US border, is 78 miles south.
