State Route 26 runs along the New Hampshire border in the western mountains of Maine. The road winds through the small towns of Newry, Grafton and Upton before making its way into the Grafton Notch State Park with exquisite scenery at every turn.
Route 26 starts out in North Newry and heads northward to a mile past the Grafton-Upton border.
With mountains and the park at its disposal, there are ample opportunities for outdoor fun along the alpine path. Swimming is available in Bear River and hiking trails are found throughout the region. The area is also an excellent spot for wildlife observation and photography.
