Description

The trail is an easy 4-mile hike, mostly through a forested valley to a large mountain lake. See the trail guide for Lake Creek Trail 500 for a description of the longer trail.

This hike is popular with day hikers/riders as well as those looking for a short overnight trip. One should not expect solitude here as the lake has a confined lakeshore with only 3 places to camp. There is a fairly private camp back in the trees at the south end of the lake. The camp at the north end of the lake has a hitch rail and may be used by parties with stock. The lake contains trout and there are miles of lakeshore to fish from.

Due to difficult stream crossings and hazardous trail conditions, the trail beyond Black Lake is not recommended for stock use.

No motorized or mechanized vehicles. Wilderness use restrictions apply.

Campsites, corral, hitch rail, pit toilets, and loading ramp.
